Wat te doen?
1. Bedenk een duurzaam recept (minstens 1 duurzaam ingrediënt);
2. Maak een homevideo of een gave foto en promoot jouw duurzame recept;
3. Ga naar YouTube (voeg de YouTube link toe), of upload jouw foto;
4. Voeg je recept toe, vul alle stappen in;
5. Er zijn maar liefst zeven etentjes en verschillende kookboeken te winnen voor de meest duurzame en grappige inzendingen!

Omschrijving:

Stuffed Peppers with meat (can be replaced with tofu/tahoe) and fairtrade rice.

I get this done in 45 min. After preparation you need minimal 2 hours to let it cook ready.

Ingrediënten:

Peppers (I used 7 in the picture)
Onions
Garlic
Salt/pepper (add whenever you like)
3x Mashed Tomato (in those little cans)
Beef/Pork/Tofu (what ever you like)
FairTrade Rice
Eggs (depends on how much you are making. I used 3 eggs on the picture)

Extra's: I added Kidney beans to stuff the pepper a bit more.

Also I like to spice it up with chilli powder or hotpeppers/sambal.

 

 
Bereiding:

Preparation:

I get this done in 45 min. After preparation you need minimal 2 hours to let it cook ready.

Start with cooking the rice (does not have to be completely done, just make sure it wont be overdone), meanwhile you can start cutting the onions in dices and the garlic too.

1-Put some oil in a pan to bake the beef/pork/tofu.
2-Fry the onions and garlic a bit and add the meat.
3-Put some of the mashed tomato into the pan, BUT DON'T use too much, you need the rest for the stock when the peppers are stuffed.
4-Add the extra's if you want to add the kidney beans and/or chilli/sambal ;)
5-Put out the fire and let it cool down a bit.

Meanwhile the rice should be done, so pour the water away and let it steam off with the lit on the pan!

When this all is done;
6-Mix the rice with the beef/pork/tofu.... this will be your stuffing for the peppers.
7-Add the eggs and stir very well. The eggs will be cooked solid and makes sure the whole stuffing will stick to each other when you are eating the peppers.

Now the stuffing is mixed and cooling down, you can start preparing the peppers.
Before starting, fill the pan for the pepper with water while the peppers are in the pan. This way you know how much water there has to be in it.

8-Clean the peppers using a small knife to make an opening in the top. Make sure you remove as much seeds as possible, otherwise they give a bitter taste to the dinner ;)
9-I used, to make a small hole in the bottom of the peppers, a chopstick. This way the stock can get into the peppers and this way the peppers won't float up in the pan.

Now the pan's filled with water:

10-put it on the fire
11-add the mashed tomato from the cans
12-add salt/pepper to your likings
13-let it boil to a "soup"/stock.

Now you can stuff the peppers with a spoon and put them into the pan one by one.

Let it cook softly for and hour or 2. The longer you wait, the better it will be!!!
The next day It's sooo DELICIOUS!!!

AND YOU'RE DONE

I use fair trade rice and tofu when I don't eat meat.
